Africa Across the Strait

After traveling to the southernmost tip of Spain, which is Tarifa, I took the ferry to Morocco. I can remember standing on top of Castillo de Guzman el Bueno looking across the strait at AFRICA. I couldn’t believe my eyes, I could really see Africa across the way.

It was one of the things on this trip that excited me the most. I love the water, and I grew up boating, so this was a no brainer.

It takes about 1 1/2 hours to cross the Strait, and the cost was very reasonable for my low budget traveling. The ferry line was FRS and it was like a floating plane, with car storage beneath. I’ve taken ferries before, but not like this one. A variety of seating areas, arrangements and options. And they serve food.

I spent most of my time outside between the 2 observation decks, it was very windy, but I love the wind.
