Ostrava is the capital of the Moravian-Silesian Region. It is best know for coal mines, blast furnaces and steelworks factories. One of the main purposes of my 2018 solo European trip was to attend a TBEX conference in Ostrava.

Our conference was held at the most famous conference center, Dolni Vitkovice, in the old gasometer, which has been renovated into what is now know as the GONG Convention Center. They took a rusty old gas storage facility and transformed into an incredible cultural center with restaurants, tours and attractions. The Dolni Vitkovice is now a national monument, beaming with corroded industrial architecture.
